your beautiful artificial Christmas tree.

A well decorated Christmas tree is a pleasing sight during Christmas time and a welcome note to the New Year around the corner. For children it is a time to bring out the creative talents in decoration and to a certain extent for some of the adults in the home, who will take part in the activity with the same spirit and enthusiasm of the children.

But of late there is a situation where increased urbanization has brought in a scarcity of suitable trees to use as Christmas trees. This situation gives us the reason to think about the use of artificial Christmas trees.

Can we build our own artificial Christmas tree?

Yes, we can, if we live in a suburban area where there is a possibility to spot a tree which is either fallen in the storm or felled by the authorities which was hindering the expansion of road works and the like.

Cut down a branch with some sub branches that span out in two or three directions.

Make a stencil of a leaf,(which could be anyone of your choice, Maple is my choice as it has a good design of its own) then from green paper which can be bought from the stationery stores, cut as many leaves as you want with the help of the stencil.

To add a natural element to the tree make some leaves out of red and brown paper as well.

You can then pin them to a drinking straw with staples, and the same idea is good to pin them to the branches. Make smaller leaves for the top branches to make it look more natural. Then go about decorating the tree with bells, walking sticks and miniature gift packets and the trademark color balls as well. Add some lights that twinkles, and there it is, your beautiful artificial Christmas tree.

But for those who live in city, this idea may not work for the lack of a suitable tree branch. Sensing this as a business opportunity, shops have started selling artificial Christmas tree kits.

They come in neat boxes that can be easily carried to your home. The tree is actually packed as two parts, one the Christmas tree itself and the base or the stand is the other part.

The tree is made up of three detachable portions which can be placed one about the other. The branches and sub branches are made from soft metal that can be shaped in the form of real branches. The leaves are made up of green soft plastic which is a replica of Casuarinas. Fully erected, the tree will reach to a height of six feet. Go about the decoration as usual and top them with the lights. That is your artificial Christmas tree that can be used again and again.

Considering the savings on the expenses of buying and erecting a new tree every Christmas, the artificial Christmas tree is a good option.

This is also a welcome change, when viewed from the angle of eco-friendliness. Make up your mind to celebrate this Christmas with an artificial Christmas tree.
